Elizabeth and Alexander's English Tea Room

Elizabeth and Alexander's is truly a family endeavor.  Our family has for many years talked about having a small family run business. We wanted something that could be passed down generationally. While having a Mother's Day tea with daughters Sarah and Amy about 10 years ago, they said, "Hey, Mom and Dad, we could start a tea room like this one some day!" A few years later in January of 1997 while at a school of business and biblical economics, Dean was asked if he had considered starting his own business. He told the teachers that his wife and daughters had talked about opening an English Tea Room some day. They all said, "You have got to do it! We love the one's in our town and we will come to yours when we come to Seattle." After another year and a half, and after much advice, guidance, and prayer in August of 1998 our family and our then two married daughters, Sarah and Amy, and their husbands began to remodel a building into a restaurant. Our oldest daughter, Sarah Elizabeth had married a young man from Eastbourne, England named Simon Alexander. Thus we have named the Tea Room after their middle names. It sounds a little more British, too. Simon was very instrumental in keeping the authentic small English village tea room atmosphere. When we opened the doors September 12th 1998, Grandma Lois was washing dishes, Grandpa Bob was chopping celery for the Chicken Cashew Salad, Sue was hostessing, Amy was baking in the kitchen, Sarah was helping with the purchase of China, and our younger kids Robert and Katie were helping bus tables. After recently celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary, the family is still working together and the tea room continues to bless our family and our guests. We look forward to serving you!.
